 Welcome!

My first CD -- "I'm Here to Love" -- features 12 of my original songs. I was accompanied by a great team of instrumental musicians and vocalists: David West on bass, lead guitar, banjo, and mandolin, as well as harmony vocals on “Yes Is My Answer”; Kate Wallace on rhythm guitar and harmony vocals; George Friedenthal on keyboards; Tom Ball on harmonica; Barbara Coventry on fiddle; Bob Nichols on drums; Lorenzo Martinez on hand percussion; Dave Tolegian on clarinet; Kenny Edwards on cello; Douglas Clegg on accordion, plus harmony vocals on "Peace By Peace"; and Rebecca Wave and Mark Alciati, who each sang verses and harmony vocals on "Marisol."

This past summer, based on songs from this CD, I was named as an alternate in the Lake Superior Big Top Chautaqua songwriting competition.

You can hear 6 of the songs and read the backstory for all the songs at:

CD Baby grouped me with Joni Mitchell ("Big Yellow Taxi"), Janis Ian ("Night Rains"), and Brooke Medicine Eagle ("A Gift of Song"). I find that very interesting, as both Joni and Janis have inspired me since my teenage years, and Brooke Medicine Eagle and I both sing a Native American four-directions chant that we learned from the same medicine man (although I can't think of anything on my CD that would suggest that).

I am currently working on the next 3 CDs, for which I've written most of the material. One will be what I call the "celebration" genre -- that is, celebrating the electricity between men and women (a la "Jumpstart"). Another will be songs of inspiration, which will include "Everyday Alleluia" -- a 4-part harmony classical vocal work -- and "Dear One" -- a piece in 3-part harmony that I wrote for the Threshold Choir. The other, like "I'm Here to Love," will be an eclectic mixture of thoughtful, humorous, poignant, and  story-based songs.

I am also committed to getting "Soldier's Lullaby" out into the world. I wrote this song out of my sadness about my nephew, deployed on his second tour of duty to Iraq, being separated from his wife and baby daughter. I dedicate it to all military families. To listen to the duet version of the song and read about the project, go to:
